CHAPTER 2: PARTS OF A COMPUTER

A.              Reading Text

Instruction: Read the following text silently and loudly!

The computer is an electronic device or device that can be used to process data according to previously formulated procedures to produce useful information for its users. While computer equipment is a component that is on a computer, which is divided into two major components, namely hardware and software.

Software (Software) of a computer contains all components in a computer that can be seen but cannot be touched. The types of software are system software and application software. The software system is a program that controls the operations and equipment on a computer. Included in the software system is the operating system (OS), a collection of programs that coordinate all computer equipment activities and allow users to run software applications. Meanwhile, a software application is an application program used for specific purposes.

Software

Hardware (Hardware) contains all the components in a computer that can be touched and seen. For Example, Memory, Storage Media, Processor, Mainboard. Memory, which functions to store data or programs (RAM and ROM) temporarily, Storage Media that functions to permanently store large amounts of data (Hard Disk, Floppy Disk, and Tape Drive). Processor (CPU / Central Processing Unit) is the 'heart' of a computer that processes all instructions or can be said to be the processing center of all commands running on a computer (Intel Processors and AMD Processors).  Mainboard (Mainboard / Motherboard) is a circuit board where the CPU. Input and Output Device is installed, which synchronizes everything. While the Casing / Power Supply is a container for arranging all the hardware so that they are neatly organized. This container/casing is equipped with a power supply as a power source that converts AC voltage to DC based on the needs of each hardware.

Computer hardware is also divided into two parts, namely the input device (input device) and the output device (output device). The input device is the hardware used to enter data/instructions. Following are some examples of input equipment, namely Keyboard (Keyboard), Mouse, Microphone, Scanner, and Camera. Meanwhile, the output device is the hardware used to display or convey information to the user. Here are some examples of output equipment: Monitors, Printers, Speakers, and LCD Projectors.
